Sarangi
The sarangi is the most important bowed instrument of North Indian music. Many believe its name means "a hundred colours" referring to its a ability to reflect the human voice. This classical instrument is carved out of a single piece of wood and the neck is fretless. The sarangi usually has 3 playing strings, one bronze rythym string, and 35 sympathetic strings.
